I HELP HIGH ACHIEVERS STOP USING ACHIEVEMENT TO MANAGE EMOTION.

My work is shaped by both professional experience and personal insight and over the course of my career, I have become increasingly interested in what truly determines the quality of leadership. While of course, intelligence and ambition matter enormously, time and time again, I have witnessed that ultimately it is the landscape of our inner world that influences the nature of every single outcome in how we live and lead.

MY HUMAN DOING STORY

From the outside, it looked as though my life was working.

I had the kind of career many people aspire to; beginning at Boston Consulting Group in Munich, completing an MBA at IESE Business School in Barcelona and going on to spend more than twenty years advising some of the world’s most recognised brands with leading creative agencies.

It was high stakes, international and full of opportunity.

My calendar was full and expectations were high.

I was capable, committed and trusted.

What more could I ask for?

Yet somewhere underneath all the glamour and acclaim, I felt a hollowness that, for a very long time, I did my best to ignore.

I was living much of my life in reaction and overload, letting other people’s agendas dictate the shape of my life; not because I lacked courage or voice but more because I didn’t know any other way except to try harder.

So I tried harder.

Harder to prove myself.

Harder to feel satisfied.

Harder to make the life I had built by accident, feel like enough.

But the better I became at producing results, the more dis-connected I felt from myself.

I burnt out and the sad truth of what I had taken to be ambition, passion and drive, revealed itself for what it really was; a relentless pattern of doing to stop myself from feeling.

MY HUMAN BEING STORY

Burnout became the gift that forced me to turn the spotlight on myself.

Fast forward to many years later and an ongoing practice of reflection, soul-searching and self-compassion has changed the direction of my life, as well as providing first hand evidence that the quality of our life and leadership is shaped less by external capability and more by our inner relationship with ourselves.

Today, I infuse that experience and understanding into my coaching, partnering with accomplished leaders who feel drawn to explore beneath the surface, following their intuition that there is something more essential that is asking for their attention.

Something extraordinary happens when we go beyond mastering the external game and begin to get curious about what it means to lead from a place of genuine Self-authority.

Because when that shift happens, we stop performing the version of leadership that ‘success’ wrote for us and begin to lead from that powerful place of centre, that is uniquely our own.

“My coaching sessions with Katie coincided with a period of high stress and a pivot point in my career. In just eight sessions, Katie expertly guided me through this challenging time, providing me with the tools and space to re-build my confidence and re-connect with my core strengths and values, thus helping me to frame what I need to be at my best. I am so grateful for the patience, empathy and flexibility she brought to our sessions and cannot recommend her highly enough.”

She has the ability to get to the source of the issue and expertly guide you through the discovery process to achieve the results you desire. I highly recommend Katie for those seeking a skilled executive coach.”
